Valmet Awarded $5 MIL (US) Dubai Polyfilm Contract

BEDFORD, U.K.—Valmet Converting reports a recent order (for a range of converting equipment) in excess of $5 million (US) was received from Dubai Polyfilm, United Arab Emirates.

According to Valmet, Dubai is part of the Al Ghurair Industrial Group of the United Arab Emirates. The company's order comprises: one 8-meter-wide Atlas primary film slitter; one smaller Atlas CW800 2.5-meter-wide slitter/rewinder; and two 2850-mm-wide General "K" Series vacuum metallizers.

Valmet says the order follows Dubai Polyfilm's substantial investment in a new plastic film production line, the third film line to be installed at the converting operation, "to meet the increasing demand, particularly in the flexible packaging sector," adds co. The order will bring the Middle East-based operation's total investment of Valmet Converting equipment to 12 machines, Valmet reports.

Al Ghurair is one of the biggest manufacturers of plastic film and flexible packaging in the Middle East, says Valmet, with Arabian Packaging also an important part of the group "concentrating specifically on converting operations."
