ALBUQUERQUE, NM, USA—The Society of Vacuum Coaters (SVC) has released the preliminary program for its upcoming 47th Annual Technical Conference (TechCon) and its concurrent Smart Materials Symposium. According to the trade association, the technical program will run from April 26-29; the education program is slated for April 24-29; and an event exhibit is scheduled for April 26 and 27.
Among the highlights of the venue include the SVC TechCon Plenary Address, "Electrospray Wings for Molecular Elephants," presented by Nobel Prize Winner Dr. John B . Fenn, Sunday, April 25, after the event's opening ceremonies at 7:00 pm. Also among the special presentations will be senior advisor for Japan-based ULVAC Inc. Dr. Chikara Hayashi's "Essence of UHV Technology in Surface Processing Systems." Dr. Hayashi's special presentation is slated for Monday, April 26, from 8:30-9:15 am. SVC's TechCon also will feature lunchtime tutorials, an innovator's showcase, technology forum breakfast sessions, a "meet the experts" corner, the smart materials symposium, a product exhibit ("The only exhibit devoted to vacuum coating!"), and offer an education resources library Monday through Thursday of the event.
SVC says new this year is the ability to register online for both your conference and hotel accommodations. In addition, the group says it's not too late to submit abstracts and urges interested parties to submit them for the 2004 TechCon and for the "Heureka! Recent Developments" program (by February 15). More information about abstract submissions and online registration, as well as the downloadable preliminary conference program, is available at svc.org.
