Labelexpo Americas Doing Fine

ROSEMONT (CHICAGO), IL , USA—September 11, 2002
In more ways than one, Labelexpo Americas exhibited the true American spirit yesterday and today. At noon today, show organizer Tarsus, as well as the 400-plus exhibitors and hundreds of attendees, observed a three-minute silence (in conjunction with the nearby City of Chicago) to honor those who died at Ground Zero and at the Pentagon on this date last year. And then the show continued on.
Attendance estimates are nowhere near to being in, but Tarsus is hoping for the 14,000 that pre-registered.
Labelexpo Americas might make it. Despite today being September 11, the halls were moderately to fairly busy, and exhibitors such as Kodak Polychrome Graphics and Appleton Security Products (among the companies PFFC met with today) report high interest and good results thus far.
Among the announcements of interest in the first two show days:
- Sun Chemical and Pantone announced an alliance/supplier agreement (involving hexachrome);
- PCMC debuted its Evolution gearless press for narrow web applications;
- Yupo introduced its new "standard and more user friendly" IML label substrate; and
- Mark Andy is demonstrating a really "cool" press (as senior editor Claudia Hine put it) with in-line laser die-cutting, provided by LasX.
