Pliant Corp. Introduces New Films

SCHAUMBURG, IL, USA—Pliant Corp. reports the introduction of two new film products: a new Maxilene retort grade sealant film and Revolution film R410, a new hand-wrap film for securing pallet loads.

Maxilene for Growing US Retort Market
The Maxilene brand, which the company says is known for its superior sealing performance, now is available in a new mono-layer cast film for converters producing retort pouches. Pliant says the new film serves as the final layer between the package and the food for a variety of applications, adding that the new product is available in a range of gauges, maintains integrity during the rigorous retort process, and will not impact food properties.

"We're excited about our expansion of the Maxilene line," says Dean Baker, technical director at Pliant. "This is another example of Pliant's technological advantage giving converters the opportunity to compete in the growing retort market [here in the US]."

The Revolution Continues...
Pliant extends its Revolution family of engineered stretch films with R410, a cast, coextruded blend of special polyethylene grades, including metallocenes. According to the mfr., the new 47-gauge hand-wrap stretch film features strength comparable to conventional 65- to 80-gauge hand-wrap and is available in 16-in. widths with 2,000 ft. per roll. Pliant adds that R410 offers a significant yield advantage through downgauging, "which helps users drive down their total cost-per-pallet wrapped."

Says Kevin Howard, VP of sales at Pliant, "We created R410 to allow conventional hand-wrap users the cost-saving benefits that a high integrity, downgauged film can offer. The cost savings, quality, and performance of the Revolution family of products are now available to a broader market."
