Packaging Design Now Part of Artwork Systems/Co. Reports Agfa Alliance

GENT, BELGIUM—Artwork Systems Group reports it has completed the acquistion of Dimensional Impressions, Inc., Los Angeles, CA. According to Artwork Systems, Dimensional Impressions is a leading software provider in CAD and enterprise software for the corrugated and folding carton markets.

"With the acquisition of Dimensional Impressions," says the prepress mfr., "Artwork Systems is implementing a further important step of its strategy, which consists [of] expanding and [becoming] a global player in both prepress and preproduction software. The so-called CAD software, the production phase before prepress—an area [in which] Dimensional Impressions excels—is an essential part of this. This important link in the preproduction process brings the CAD data into the prepress system where graphics are added. The concept of one, integrated software supplier for the packaging market now is closer to becoming a reality," adds the co.

Artwork and Agfa Announce Alliance
During Ipex in mid-April, Artwork Systems and Agfa announced an agreement that allows Agfa to integrate Artwork Systems components into ApogeeX, Agfa's workflow product. According to Artwork Systems, its PowerStepper and PowerLayout give ApogeeX automatic step-and-repeat and nesting capabilities.

"We have enjoyed a close co-marketing relationship with Agfa for some time," says Guido Van der Schueren, chairman of the board. "We see this latest agreement as an opportunity for Artwork Systems to extend its c. The closer integration of [our] PowerStepper and PowerLayout in Agfa's prepress systems (including software, equipment, and consumables) will help to grow the Artwork Systems' market share further."
