Black Clawson to Install Coating Line for Window Films Producer

FULTON, NY, USA—Black Clawson Converting Machinery Inc. reports it will manufacture, install, and start-up a film coating line for Commonwealth Laminating and Coating, Martinsville, VA. According to the OEM, the tandem coating and laminating line—which reportedly will be capable of web widths to 74 in.—will be used to manufacture SunTek, a brand of solar control window films the converter markets and sells.
"We are very excited to be chosen as the supplier for Commonwealth Laminating and Coating's expansion," says Richard Campbell, VP of sales, marketing, and new business development at Black Clawson. "Their background and expertise within the industry, their understanding of market demands, and their international presence puts them in a perfect position to dominate."
Black Clawson says the line "will be the newest and most technically advanced in North America." It will be housed in a new 12,000 sq ft facility, currently under construction at the Martinsville location. "The facility and machinery are constructed with special designs to produce some of the clearest and distortion- and contamination-free films available," adds the mfr.
Other Developments
In other Black Clawson news, Black Clawson Company Inc. reports it has completed the sale of the assets of its Black Clawson Machinery LLC division to a new company formed by the management team of Black Clawson Converting Machinery and investment partners Hamilton Robinson LLC. According to the equipment manufacturer, the new company—Black Clawson Converting Machinery Inc.—will operate from its existing Fulton, NY, location and has offered employment to all of Black Clawson Converting Machinery LLC active employees.
