Printpack Acquires Virginia-Based Amcor Packaging Plant

NEWPORT NEWS, VA, USA—Printpack Inc. reports it acquired Amcor Inc.'s Newport News-based specialty packaging plant in late August, adding the operation will be integrated into Printpack's Rampart Packaging Div., located nearby in Williamsburg.

According to Printpack, the acquisition will provide "excellent operational synergies, since the two plants operate common production equipment and will share manufacturing support services." The co. says the current facility in Newport News is 105,000 sq ft, with sufficient land available to more than double manufacturing capacity.

"With the Williamsburg plant operating near capacity," says Printpack, "the addition of the Newport News facility will allow [us] to maintain uninterrupted supply to existing customers while providing incremental capacity to meet [our] longer-term growth plans."
