Pactiv to Build Western Center in US

LAKE FOREST, IL, USA—Pactiv Corp. recently announced plans to build a Western regional distribution center in Bakersfield, CA. According to the packaging manufacturer, this center will complete Pactiv's "one face to the customer" strategy and will expand Pactiv's improved service capability to 100% of the US. Pactive customers in the west will place a single order for multiple products and receive consolidated shipment from the regional center.

Pactiv is in contract negotiations with real estate developer First Industrial Development Corp. for development services. The company reports the project will involve the initial construction of a 1.2-million-sq-ft warehouse facility, with plans to begin in May on a 400,000-sq-ft expansion to the initial 1.2 million sq ft. The co. notes the facility will employ approximately 100–125 people.
