NILES, IL, USA—Graphic Converting, Inc. (GCI) reports it will relocate its point-of-sale and point-of-purchase (POP) display manufacturing from Fenton, MO (near St. Louis), to its corporate facility in Niles, IL (near Chicago). According to the company, the move will consolidate facilities and resources and is part of the corporate restructuring GCI began last year. GCI adds that while the GC Displays plant in Fenton is expected to close down in March, a sales office will keep the company in the St. Louis market.
"From a workload perspective," says Todd Amar, GCI executive VP, "our facility in Niles is centrally located and gives us greater latitude. This decision allows us to eliminate duplicated production capabilities and will improve our manufacturing efficiencies for point-of-sale and POP display work."
The company says approximately 80 people are affected by the consolidation, and some key personnel will be offered positions in the new sales office or in Niles. No interruptions in manufacturing are expected in the Niles facility or at the other GCI facilities in Carlsbad, CA, and Minneapolis, MN.
