WASHINGTON, DC, USA—According to the US Commercial Service department, US exhibitors will have more opportunities to make international sales this year at NPE 2003—thanks to extensive participation by overseas visitors and expanded US government export assistance services.
NPE 2003 will include two US government programs designed to help US exhibitors generate more sales and access to new markets, says government officials. They include: US Department of Commerce (USDOC) International Buyer Program and a US Export Pavilion.
"[NPE 2000] attracted more than 17,000 international visitors (roughly 20 percent of the total attendance)," says a recent press release promoting the two programs, "and show organizers anticipate similarly great international participation at this month's show. US exports of plastics resin and products have experienced a steady pattern of growth since 1996, rising from $20 billion in shipments to more than $26 billion. With growing international interest in the plastics industry, US exhibitors will have additional opportunities to make new sales and forge business relationships," adds US Commercial Service.
According to the US government, the following export assistance programs will help US exhibitors at NPE 2003 take advantage of international sales opportunities at the show:
- International Buyer Program (IBP): Coordinated by the US Commercial Service, the IBP has recruited qualified buyers from Brazil to Uzbekistan to attend NPE 2003. US Embassy trade experts pre-screen and lead the buyer delegations and then help match the buyers to US exhibitors at NPE 2003, which is one of 32 US trade shows in the IBP this year. Information about the IBP and each delegation can be found at the International Center in McCormick Place South, Room S-100.
- US Export Pavilion: One of the important exhibits at NPE 2003 will be the US Export Pavilion, booth 432. The Pavilion's eight US government agencies help exporters research new markets, find new international buyers, finance their exports, and ship their products. Both first-time and experienced exporters interested in increasing international sales will find the information and help they need.
