RONKONKOMA, NY, USA—The Foundation of the Flexographic Technical Association (FFTA) announces its "Hands-On Narrow Web Press Operation" training course, slated to take place on March 25 and 26, 2004, at Waukesha Technical College in Pewaukee, WI. According to FFTA, participants will learn basic procedures for operating a 10-in., five-color Mark Andy Scout flexo press. The trade group adds participants also will be versed in the subjects and skills to obtain "Basic Flexographer" classification.
"Attendees will gain in-depth knowledge of the flexo press as well build their vocabulary of flexographic printing terms," says FFTA. "Participants will mount plates, adjust print quality of the inking system, set up print stations, and learn how tooling is applied to create finished die-cut labels." In addition, reports the group, the two-day course will cover troubleshooting, maintaining quality, color matching, metering and doctor blade adjustment, setting dies, and safety principles.
FFTA says it developed its Basic Flexographer classification to provide recognition for entry-level personnel that have some knowledge of the industry. At the conclusion of the training course, FFTA says participants will have the opportunity to take the FTA Level I test and will receive a certificate of achievement upon passing the test.
FFTA's "Hands-On Narrow Web Press Operation" two-day seminar is limited to an enrollment of 12; cost for FTA members is $395.00 (US) per person, and non-FTA members can attend for $790.00 (US) per person.
