The Wider World of Narrow Web

For all of your networking, new product, and narrow web needs, Labelexpo America presents... The Wider World of Narrow Web
Mix 400 exhibitors from more than 60 countries with conference programming, international awards, and an extra day, and you have the recipe for what Labelexpo managing director Roger Pellow calls “the melting pot for the labels industry in the Americas.” With 92% of the 180,000-sq-ft convention center floor space already booked, visitors can expect to be bombarded by the industry's best and brightest September 13-16 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL, near Chicago's O'Hare Airport.
Show organizers added a fourth day to the show in order to allow for more flexible travel time and opportunities to visit exhibitor booths, attend conference seminars, and meet with other industry members. Many converters see Labelexpo as a means of staying connected with the industry, capitalizing on this opportunity to network, keeping in touch, and exchanging ideas. Jakob Landberg, Nilpeter sales director comments, “Labelexpo is not only a trade show but also an opportunity to meet socially within the worldwide network — an extra day will ease some of the hecticness and add value to the event.”
Network with Style!
Perhaps the best opportunity to keep in touch with fellow industry members will be the Label Industry Global Awards and Gala Dinner, the newest addition to the convention program. With the promise of food, music, and entertainment, the event — held for the first time on Monday, September 13 — is sure to be the highlight of the show.
Three major awards will be presented: The R. Stanton Avery Lifetime Achievement Award, sponsored by Avery Dennison; the Label Industry Award for Continuous Innovation, sponsored by Labels & Labeling, Label & Narrow Web, and NarroWeb Tech; and the Label Industry Award for New Innovation, sponsored by HP and Creo.
A Team Effort
This year marks the combining of Labelexpo Americas with Smart Packaging 2004, a two-day keynote conference preceding the Labelexpo show. In cooperation with the Inst. of Packaging Professionals, the conference promises to update packaging, labeling, printing, and security specialists on the latest smart packaging systems, solutions, and applications.
Slated speakers include Jim Jonza (3M Security Market Center), Chris Hook (Zebra Technologies), Dan Gelbart (Creo), Rich Zucker (DuPont Authentication Systems), John Hayward (HP), and Panos Kingakis (Kraft Foods). Topics will cover branding, product and pack protection, security, and policing and improving supply chain efficiencies.
The Smart Packaging conference will take place September 8-9, with programming scheduled from 7:30 A.M.-5:00 P.M.
Not to be outdone, Labelexpo promises an equally informative conference program, once again giving visitors an opportunity to learn about and debate current industry issues (see p56). Raflatac president Dan O'Connell will deliver the keynote address, and key sessions will include “The State of the Label Industry,” “The Current State of Digital Printing,” “Managing Cash Flow,” “Increasing Profits Through Plant Efficiencies,” and “Educating your Sales Force.”
Labelexpo America's show floor will be open September 13-15, 2004, from 9:00 A.M.-5:00 P.M. and September 16 from 9:00 A.M.-3:00 P.M.
