Robert J. Dunsirn, a pioneer in the tag and label industry, died September 11 at the age of 84 following a lengthy illness. He was the founder, along with partner Don W. Buchta, of Mid America Tag and Label Co. and later consulted for his sons when they formed Dunsirn Industries.
Flint Ink, Ann Arbor, MI, appoints Dr. Joseph Raksis chairman and CEO of Precisia LLC, the technology business unit launched last year to target RFID and other printed electronics applications. Flint Ink also names Dr. James Rogers director of new business development.
Four packaging professionals will be inducted into the Packaging Hall of Fame November 7 during Pack Expo 2004 in Chicago. They are Dr. Raymond Bourque, Audrey Marsh King, Stanley Kopecky, and Lawrence Starr. The Hall of Fame is administered by the Packaging Machinery Mfrs. Inst., Arlington, VA.
Praxair Surface Technologies, Indianapolis, IN, announces several changes: Teresa Ramsey and Robin Barbato are now inside sales representatives for the printing division of the North American industrial markets; Brian Jacob, president of Jacob Flexographic Services, becomes regional sales agent for the printing industry, covering NJ, DE, MD, and portions of NY and PA; and John Batistatos serves as business development specialist for North American industrial markets.
Rock-Tenn Co., Norcross, GA, closed the laminated paperboard products line at its Aurora, IL, facility on August 14. The company will continue to manufacture specialty recycled paperboard and solid fiber book and binder products at the facility.
