Nilpeter Times Two
Plano, TX—Texas Barcode Systems has installed its second Nilpeter press. The FB Line runs at speeds to 750 fpm and features high-capacity hot air dryers, quick-change slide-out print units with removable inking units, and tool-free changeovers.
Texas Barcode was the recipient of the 2002 Dallas Business Journal Fast Tech 50 Growth Companies, with 13 sales offices across the US and 40 employees in the Plano facility.

RFID Help is Available
WEST VILLAGE, CA—Avery Dennison Retail Information Services has introduced a global sourcing option said to give vendors the means to meet retailer and government mandates for RFID carton and pallet labels.
The new service bureau offering, called "RFID Ticket Express," provides field-proven ordering and delivery processes and a global network of RFID label programming/printing facilities. After establishing an RFID Ticket Express program with Avery, vendors can expect shipment of pre-programmed and verified RFID labels to their manufacturing and distribution centers worldwide in 48–72 hrs.
Label Press Ready for Combat
A Gidue E-Combat shaftless press has joined 33 other label presses at Stratus Packaging. With four sites in France and Benelux, Stratus offers labels and flexible packaging to the pharmaceutical, health and beauty, food, and automotive industries.
Stratus’s Jose Arias reports the company selected the E-Combat "because it [seemed] the best choice with regard to the current label market and our strategy."
Equipped with eight UV flexo printing units, the press features servo-driven controls for all press functions, reportedly enabling Stratus to print and convert substrates ranging from 15-micron film to 350 g/sq m carton board. Included are twin cold foil units and units for laminating and delaminating/relaminating.

Mount Nameplates with Tape
CLIFTON, NJ—Lamart Corp. reports 1101-60 high-performance transfer tape is ideal for mounting nameplates and for bonding relatively smooth surfaces. The 2-mil tape exhibits minimum 180-deg peel and loop tack values of 40 oz/in. and 32 oz/in., respectively. The tape, which uses a 60# polycoated liner, is said to provide excellent shear strength of greater than 100 hrs at room temperature and at 200 deg F.
NorthStar Print Group Signs Miller Brewing Contract Extension
WATERTOWN, WI—NorthStar Print Group has signed an extension of its existing contract with Miller Brewing Co. under which NorthStar remains Miller’s sole label supplier. The new contract extends the relationship to incorporate all bottle labels, including p-s label products.
NorthStar also will expand its graphic services support to Miller Brewing and serve as exclusive supplier of rotogravure printing cylinders for labels.
Proofing System Joins Digital Initiative
