RFID Partnership Announced
WOOD DALE, IL—Videojet Technologies and Accu-Sort Systems, both Danaher companies, have partnered to provide the FAST Tag line of RFID compliance products. Videojet supplies variable coding systems, while ASI provides auto ID equipment. Together, they will develop a range of RFID tag applicators targeted to help retail suppliers meet RFID compliance mandates.
The FAST Tag product line offers solutions to customer compliance challenges from mobile tag encoders for manual application to batch tag application on a manufacturing line to fully integrated tag application systems for a DC material handling system.
Looking at World Labels
CLEVELAND, OH—In a study entitled World Labels, Freedonia Group, predicts world label shipments will advance at an annual pace of almost 7% off a weak 2001–2003 base, surpassing 36 billion sq m by 2007.
In value terms, output will grow more than 9% annually to $73 billion, which will require about $35 billion of label stock. Gains will be fueled by expansion of the world’s packaged consumer goods markets, says the study, as well as the diffusion of advanced logistics and data processing systems throughout the developing world and the development and penetration of technologically sophisticated, value-added labels.

Shrink Sleeves Shake Up Dairy Look
FARMINGDALE, NY—Galliker Dairy Co. is introducing a new line of shakes and reintroducing its quart and pint milks with new shrink labels printed by Seal-It.
The milks are available in six flavors and the shakes in four. Seal-It is printing 14 new labels for Galliker, including four quart-size labels, six pint-size labels, and four milk shake labels. The labels are gravure printed in ten colors.
Tapes Blend Benefits
RIVERHEAD, NY—Two double-coated tapes from Adchem Corp. are said to incorporate the heat resistance of acrylic with the high-tack properties of rubber, making them ideal for applications in foam fabrication bonding in the automotive industry, as well as other demanding applications.
The construction of the 4351M and 4352M tapes enables use of the exposed side for bonding to a wide variety of foam materials, including urethane and Low Perm urethane.
The liner side of 4351M is suitable for adhering to surfaces such as talc-filled PP, HDPE, and others. The liner side of 4352M has been engineered for adhesion to nylon plastic substrates and is acid-resistant for those used in automotive batteries.
RFID Goes Mobile
SEBRING, OH—MPI Label Systems is offering the "RFID-on-Wheels" unit, which includes an industrial cart, an RFID-enabled thermal transfer printer, EasyLabel software, communications cable and power strip for truly portable RFID printing.
The user only needs to provide a PC or laptop to complete the system. It is a fully capable printer without limits on label designs or applications, the company reports.
