Bats, Others “Honored” on P-S Stamps
STOW, OH, USA—American bats made their debut on postage stamps Sept. 13, 2002, to help kick off National Stamp Collecting Month in October. The 37-cent commemorative stamps feature four different bats on panes of 20 self-adhesive stamps. MACtac, a worldwide supplier of p-s label materials, supplied the self-adhesive construction for the 111 million stamps printed.
As a qualified supplier for USPS commemorative stamps, MACtac has provided materials for a number of p-s stamps, including recent releases of “Teddy Bears,” “Andy Warhol,” and “United We Stand” stamps. Other recent commemorative stamps using MACtac p-s materials included the “Women In Journalism” series and the “Neuter or Spay” series. Both were issued in mid-September.
Raflatac Inaugurates Shanghai Facility
FLETCHER, NC, USA—Raflatac has officially inaugurated its facility in Shanghai, China, in a ceremony attended by Jari Vilen, the country's Finnish Minister for Foreign Trade. Raflatac's Shanghai production facility has been in operation since 2001 and now runs two production lines. The factory supplies the Chinese market with new, locally manufactured paper-based and synthetic self-adhesive laminates for all the key labeling end-use areas. The factory's capabilities also include the manufacture of hot melt and acrylic adhesives.
3M to Acquire Emtech Emulsion Technologies
ST. PAUL, MN, USA—3M and Emtech Emulsion Technologies Inc. have announced an agreement to combine Emtech and 3M's label business into a single 3M operating unit. As part of the agreement, 3M will acquire the assets of Emtech. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
PCMC In-Line Systems Joins PCMC Flexo Div.
GREEN BAY, WI, USA—Paper Converting Machine Co. recently announced PCMC In-Line Systems, manufacturers of Webtron/ZIGZAG in-line flexographic equipment, has joined forces with the PCMC Flexo Div., producers of wide web flexographic converting systems.
PCMC says this move was the result of months of corporate strategic planning and allows the company to leverage its engineering and sales experience in flexo equipment and apply this knowledge to its In-Line Systems Group.
West Pack Label Launches California Operation
CORONA, CA, USA—West Pack Label began operations recently in Corona, CA, manufacturing p-s labels and flexible packaging for the health and beauty and cosmetics industries.
Utilizing UV flexo and UV rotary screen technology, West Pack Label says it is positioning itself as a “… customer-driven source” for the western US and Central and South American markets.

SWM Distributes for Pinnacle
ST. LOUIS, MO, USA—SWM now distributes the full line of Pinnacle Label products in the St. Louis, MO, market. The joint announcement was made by SWM president John Sanders and Pinnacle Label president W. Ches Cochran.

WS Packaging Group Purchases IdentiGraphics
ALGOMA, WI, USA—WS Packaging Group purchased the assets of IdentiGraphics of Portland, OR.
Chairman of the Board Terry Fulwiler says, “IdentiGraphics' unique capabilities, sophisticated knowledge, and geographic location will expand WS Packaging's product offerings and nationwide presence. WS Packaging's stability and size will provide a great opportunity for IdentiGraphics to further grow and prosper.”
IdentiGraphics is a custom label manufacturer specializing in digital printing, which is called a unique addition to WS Packaging's capabilities and diverse product line. This facility also gives WS Packaging presence in the Pacific Northwest, one of the fastest-growing areas of the country.
Repacorp Acquires Sierra Screen Printing
TIPP CITY, OH, USA—Repacorp Label Products has acquired Sierra Screen Printing (SSP), Phoenix, AZ, which specializes in process screen printing, large-format digital printing, and truck and signage vinyl cut lettering. The purchase reportedly enables Repacorp Label Products to offer a totally new product line and provides the company a location in the western US for distribution of its stock thermal, thermal transfer, and laser products.
