Report: Biomonitoring Systems to Grow at 20%
MOUNT OLIVE, NJ, USA—Assuming the five currently recognized technologies continue along their current path of development and application, biomonitoring systems for packaging could be poised for a 20% compound annual growth rate at a value of more than $101 million through 2007, according to a new report entitled “Biomonitoring Systems for Packaging.”
Researched, authored, and published by BRG Townsend Inc. and Packaging Strategies, the report defines the technologies, current and future market potential, and production and application issues driving growth in one of packaging's most promising and emerging segments.
Included are details on the three recognized, currently commercial biomonitoring technologies: temperature abuse indicators/time-temperature indicators; gas-scavenging/absorbing labels; and breathable film labels. Also outlined are two emerging technologies — food quality indicators and antimicrobial systems — slated to be introduced later this year.
The impetus of this report is to provide label converters, material suppliers, packaging end-users, and distribution chain professionals with a comprehensive assessment of current and emerging technologies and business opportunities for biomonitoring systems, most of which are presented in a p-s label format.
