UP & Running
Mark Jensen, founder of Gleukos Inc., is an athlete as well as a businessman, so he knew what he wanted when he developed his own sports performance beverage. The key is glucose, he says, and once he had the formula, he needed a package that would sell the product. For that he went to Ampac Flexibles—Converted Products, a unit of Ampac Packaging, Cincinnati, OH. Jensen wanted a slender-looking, lightweight package and high quality graphics. Ampac delivered both. The 16-oz stand-up pouch has an hourglass shape that is easy to hold, can mold to the body when placed in an athletic apparel pocket, and stands on store shelves without POP assistance despite its tall profile and narrow base. The pouch features an Ampac Smart Spout fitment/valve combination said to make it spill- and leakproof. Vibrant graphics come courtesy of Ampac’s eight-color Toshiba Sectional Drive rotogravure press.

In the House
IPG Imaging Professionals, Lake Forest, CA, collaborated with Bay Cities Container Corp., Pico Rivera, CA, a designer and direct manufacturer of corrugated packaging products, to develop a promotion for Eckrich Foods. The promotion, a bright container in the shape of a house, will highlight Eckrich’s new label. The corrugated E-flute cardboard houses each will contain four samples of Eckrich meat products in zip-locked bags, as well as Eckrich product information. The boxes measure 12 x 12 x 9 in. and are a forest green with vivid white, yellow, red, orange, and blue accents. Bay Cities designed the promotion, and IPG printed the product using its eight-color UV ink production capabilities. The cardboard then was die-cut into the shape of a house using IPG’s digital die-cutter. The promotion will be rolled out to Wal-Mart and Lowe’s Home Improvement stores across the US.
