Common Ground

GREEN BAY, WI — Converting Influence, a new and growing organization serving the needs of converters sharing common ground in the state of Wisconsin (although not exclusively), held its third meeting with an attendance of 97 people (including non-Wisconsinites) at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) in Green Bay on April 11.

Three guest speakers addressed the audience, including Dave Mayer of Georgia-Pacific on “Outsourcing to Converters and the Wiper Industry”; Al Lankford of Industrial Engraving on “Embossing & Patterns for Tissue, Nonwovens & Other Substrates”; and PFFC's associate publisher/editor Yolanda Simonsis on “Information Gathering and Converting Trends.”

A complementary tabletop event provided opportunities for close networking in a modern auditorium setting, and an accompanying luncheon and personal tour of NWTC's impressive engineering facilities rounded out activities.

Member categories cover a wide spectrum of processes and services, including coating and laminating, consulting, folding, embossing, engineering, printing, flexible packaging, rewinding, slitting, sheeting, substrates, markets, and products.

The next meeting is slated for September 12 in Appleton, WI, at Fox Valley Technical College with presentations on “The Paper Mill Perspective on Converting”; From Shelf Life Studies to Custom Culturing”; and “Growth & Trends in Nonwovens & Disposable Products.”
