Division Issues Call for Papers

The PLACE Division of TAPPI has issued a call for papers for its conference in 2004. The group is looking for volunteers willing to share their real-life experiences in roundtable and panel discussions, tutorials, workshops, case studies, and traditional technical paper presentations. Titles with a list of authors and contact information for the primary author are due by January 23, 2004.

She can also answer any questions for people who have an interest in making a presentation at the program in any area of interest covered by the activities of the PLACE Division.

Subjects for discussion at the 2004 TAPPI PLACE Division Conference will include but are not limited to new developments in film extrusion equipment, processing, coextrusion, blown film, and novel films. Papers on extrusion coating equipment and methods, hot-melt coating, and adhesive coating will also be part of the program. Packaging subjects will include barrier, medical, and microwaveable packaging and recycling and environmentally friendly packaging.

The meeting will also include topics relating to adhesives in areas such as raw materials, novel properties, processing and applications. Printing methods, materials, equipment, and applications are also suitable subjects for the conference as are converting equipment and applications.
