RIDGEFIELD PK, NJ, USA—Agfa Corp. recently announced the installation of its 100th Xcalibur VLF platesetter. Park Printing, Minneapolis, MN, USA, a point-of-purchase display and commercial printing operation, went with the VLF (very large format) platesetter to provide "quality, service, and cost savings for its customers," says the prepress manufacturer.
"We are very excited to be partners with Agfa," says Park Printing's CEO, Bud Koloski. "Agfa took the time to put together an entire package that was right for us and our operation here and made sense for what we do. The Xcalibur VLF system is precisely what we needed," he adds.
According to Agfa, since the first system installation, the Xcalibur has become an industry "favorite" for package and commercial printers around the world. "With one hundred installations in more than 18 countries—and an impressive 40 percent market share world wide—[our] Xcalibur has a steadily growing presence around the globe," states the co. Adds Frances Cicogna, Agfa's marketing manager, CTP systems: "The rapid adoption rate of the Xcalibur proves printers have embraced this long-waited alternative VLF platesetter. We attribute this fast ramp-up to our distinct advantages in plate handling and laser-system modularity."
