CPPEXPONYC: Collaboration in Packaging Production

PARAMUS, NJ | What once was known as the Converting & Package Printing Exposition (CPP Expo) has now evolved into CPPEXPONYC with emphasis now on Collaboration in Packaging Production. The new show will debut on June 14-16, 2016, at New York City's Jacob K. Javits Convention Ctr.

It's still CPP, but show producer and manager H.A. Bruno is taking the show in a new direction both figuratively and geographically separating in a friendly and agreeable manner from Graphic Arts Show Co.'s Graph Expo, slated for Orlando, FL, on Sept. 25–28, 2016.

It's not that either show company appeared to be unhappy with each other for want of cooperation. GASC prominently located CPP Expo in a strategic location at the recently co-located event at Chicago's McCormick Place on Sept. 13–16.

While the location of Graph Expo's 2016 edition may have prompted a closer look at the logic behind co-locating once again at a different venue in Florida, a new direction for CPP from a strategic standpoint will establish a collaborative forum that features and highlights business development opportunities for key stakeholders in the packaging production community.

According to H.A. Bruno: "The The overall objective of CPPEXPONYC will be to encourage all constituents to collaborate earlier in the package design and creation process. Since earlier collaboration saves time and money and improves execution, there is no doubt that CPPEXPONYC will prove beneficial to all in attendance.

"We have confirmed partnerships and support, not only from our traditional partners, but have expanded into organizations that focus on design, trends and forward-thinking solutions that enhance the delivery of unparalleled converted/packaging materials. New educational partners confirmed include PACKAGE DESIGN Magazine, MINTEL, and CALPOLY. "

Show offerings will include the following:

  • Equipment providers will showcase their latest solutions in the traditional manner. But the show will also allow package designers/converters/printers an opportunity to showcase packaging/materials samples to leading consumer package goods (CPGs) companies attending the event to learn about the latest innovations in packaging, especially in the digital arena.
  • An exclusive conference track will allow commercial printers to learn about the opportunities that exist in the package printing sector and what it takes to enter this lucrative market.
  • Brand managers and their agencies researching package design options that resonate with the consumer will see the Innovations Showcase, sponsored by Mintel with samples from around the globe.

H.A. Bruno will offering 2015 CPP EXPO exhibitors an opportunity to reserve space prior to offering it to the entire industry. Past exhibitors will have the exclusive opportunity to reserve booth space until November 15th at significant savings ($4.00/sq ft–and rate includes ALL drayage). After that time, the rates will increase.

“For 20 plus years we have heard time and time again, that converters–and equipment suppliers as well, want to reach CPGs/brand managers while in the design process,” said Jane McDermott who has been involved in converting/package printing for more than two decades. “We heard this at CMM in the 90’s—and now the time has finally come! With digital solutions providing unique messaging opportunities right on the packaging, it is critical to start the conversation as early as possible.”

Emerald Packaging was the first flexible packaging converter in the United States to adopt digital printing in late 2014. Digital has opened the door to new markets and the opportunity to work more closely with brand managers,” according to Todd Somers, director of sales and marketing for Emerald. “As with any new technology there is much to consider before diving in, and the forum created by CPP EXPO will certainly help the industry,” added Somers.
