Avery Dennison Labeling Solution Adds Shelf Appeal

MENTOR, OH | Avery Dennison Corp. reports the introduction of a brand-enhancing, pressure-sensitive labeling solution for meat packaging applications that is designed to withstand the vacuum-shrink process without wrinkling, reportedly providing both greater shelf appeal and production-related benefits.
Patent-pending Shrink PS, which is applied to vacuum shrink bags prior to filling, sealing, and shrinking, is said to offer enhanced packaging flexibility and brand differentiation and to enable manufacturers to reduce or eliminate multiple sets of preprinted shrink bag inventory. Company says this solution decreases obsolescence and overall costs while providing speedy decoration for seasonal and short-run opportunities.
When immersed in hot water following vacuum sealing, the label shrinks and conforms to the bag, delivering a smooth finish resulting in excellent esthetic appeal. The water-resistant construction and permanent adhesive ensure the label stays firmly adhered to the end product throughout the value chain. Potential applications include the labeling of processed and fresh meats, pork, and poultry products.
