Total Packaging Adds Capacity with Bobst Lines

LAUSANNE, SWITZERLAND | Total Packaging BV has substantially increased its folding carton manufacturing capacity with two new production lines from BOBST that will help it cope with increased sales. Productivity, reliability, and locally available service were key factors in the decision to purchase a NOVACUT 106 E die-cutter and EXPERTFOLD 80 folder-gluer, the company's first equipment from BOBST.
Ewald Bleeker, managing director of Total Packaging, said, "We needed to grow our manufacturing capacity for folding cartons quickly to meet increased demand for our products. The performance, quality, and user-friendliness we have found in the Bobst machines has secured that extra capacity, while having local service from Bobst Benelux means that we can ensure the availability our customers expect."
Based at ‘t Harde, Netherlands, Total Packaging produces a wide range of packaging from regular folding cartons and rigid boxes to vacuum-formed blisters and transparent tubes. The company uses paper, carton, synthetic, and corrugated materials to create the packaging its customers need. Ewald Bleeker said, "We offer customer-orientated solutions that are developed from concept to final product in our own professional studio and in our manufacturing facilities."
The NOVACUT 106 E replaced an existing die-cutter, yet gives Total Packaging considerably increased cutting and creasing capacity due to its performance, versatility, and ease of use. The machine features a double cam gripper bar advance system, which lowers the stress on the sheet and means that fewer nicks are needed, resulting in better quality of the final carton, at higher speeds than can be achieved with other types of die-cutter.
The EXPERTFOLD 80 folder-gluer can process thousands of different straight-line, crash-lock, and 4/6 corner box styles, adding capacity and capability to Total Packaging's production. The EXPERTFOLD 80 includes, as standard, the BOBST Accufeed module, which ensures the high precision alignment of each box as it enters the machine—a prerequisite for accurate folding all along the line.
The two lines were supplied by Bobst Benelux NV, which also provides technical advice and service to Bobst customers such as Total Packaging. Bobst Benelux has local support staff with quick access to Bobst's engineers based in the region and to the Bobst European Distribution Centre, which provides spare parts and consumables.
Ewald Bleeker said, "It's important to us to have a supplier such as Bobst who will be there for the long term, like we will be for our customers."
