CCL Industries to Close Two Avery Operations

TORONTO, ON, CANADA | CCL Industries a supplier of specialty label and packaging solutions for global corporations, small businesses, and consumers, plans to close its Avery North American supply chain operations in Chicopee and Holliston, MA, permanently beginning February 1, 2014, and completing the closures before the end of next year.

Geoffrey T. Martin, president and CEO of CCL Industries, says, "It is with great regret that we have to announce this news, but it is very clear that our Avery business had been operating with significant excess capacity and infrastructure for some time prior to the change in ownership. Operations will eventually be consolidated into existing Avery supply chain facilities located in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. 250 people will be affected by the change, and a charge of approximately $6 million will be booked in our fourth quarter financial statements as part of the overall restructuring plan that we have already announced."
