FORT MILL, SC | The Assn. of International Metallizers, Coaters and Laminators (AIMCAL) and the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE), Bethel, CT, continue 2014’s collaboration to present what is said to be one of 2015’s largest technical conferences devoted to converting and flexible packaging topics. This year’s AIMCAL Web Coating & Handling Conference/SPE FlexPackCon meeting will be held Oct. 25–28, 2015, at the Naples Grande Beach Resort in Naples, FL.
The conference agenda lists more than 100 papers organized in parallel tracks: Web Coating and Laminating, Vacuum Web Coating, Extrusion Web Coating, Web Handling, Roll-to-Roll Markets and Flexible Packaging. Sessions cover a range of topics including supply chain traceability, troubleshooting converting problems, food safety, sustainability, coating and laminating advances, adhesives technology, barrier materials, transparent conductors, package performance and sealing, solution delivery, flexible devices and magnetrons, plasma, and control.
“This is the strongest field of papers, we’ve assembled to date,” says Craig Sheppard, executive director of AIMCAL. “With multiple tracks, attendees will have a hard time deciding which presentation to attend during each session,” he predicts.
Attendees also may register for four short courses scheduled on Sunday, October 25.
The agenda also includes joint sessions focused on economic outlooks. In the keynote address on Sunday, Oct. 25, Dr. Robert C. Fry of Robert Fry Economics presents a global forecast for the converting industry. Dr. Fry, formerly senior economist for DuPont, combines real-time data with projections of trends and their economic impact. On Tuesday, October. 27, Marla Donahue, president of the Flexible Packaging Assn., reports on the state of the flexible packaging industry.
A vendor session gives suppliers three minutes to promote their product, service, or company. The most entertaining presentation receives the 2015 AIMMy (AIMCAL Emmy) award.
The conference program also offers networking opportunities, including two receptions in the TableTop Exhibition area with more than 75 exhibitors, the Dr. Bernard Henry Memorial 5k Fun Run, a golf scramble, the John Reading Memorial Scotch Tasting, and local activities.
