APPLETON, WI | CMD Corporation, a high-performance film and package converting equipment manufacturer, has acquired advanced converting solutions provider flex4, Ligornetto, Switzerland. The acquisition will expand CMD’s international footprint to include a Europe-based service center. flex4, which innovates and applies high-end technology for equipment owners with a special focus on pre-made pouch converting systems, will retain its name but will be known as a CMD company.
“We are pleased to offer our international customers the exceptional technical support of the flex4 team” says CMD president Stephen Sakai. “Establishing a centrally located European center for quick-response service is an important goal for CMD, and the team at flex4 has extensive experience in equipment service and technology with personnel skilled in machine controls and programming and electrical/mechanical engineering expertise. flex4 is uniquely qualified and ready to meet the needs of our customers.”
The Swiss company, an established supplier of service support for all brands of pouch equipment throughout Europe, will continue to service existing customers, and will now also offer CMD pouch machinery customers—directly and through CMD agents—an array of services provided by experienced technical experts.
The two companies have collaborated on projects and customer support in the US and Europe for three years and report they have established an excellent working relationship. “Identifying how each of our firms has strengths to offer our respective customers has made the value to customers greater than the sum of its parts,” says Davide Tesin, flex4 operations manager/software engineer. “[Our company] has aligned well with CMD’s commitment to advance technology and has been particularly helpful in jointly developing software solutions for machine control on the pouch equipment side.”
