Spinnaker Partners with ARMOR USA for Testing

TROY, OH | Spinnaker Coating, a manufacturer and service provider of pressure-sensitive paper and film products for the printing industry, has partnered with ARMOR USA, a thermal transfer ribbon manufacturer, for substrate testing.

“We take great pride in offering one of the largest thermal transfer printable product lines in the industry, and we are thrilled to have partnered with ARMOR to have our products tested and approved using their ribbons,” says Joel Ulrich, roll product manager at Spinnaker Coating.

Spinnaker currently offers seven paper facestocks and ten film facestocks in more than 65 construction combinations on its Trimless program, including a recently launched 2.8-mil white thermal transfer film facestock. This new product is said to be an economically priced, matte white film that offers excellent thermal transfer printability and an outdoor life to one year.

“At ARMOR, we consider our ribbon testing to be relevant for the entire value chain of the thermal transfer printing industry,” says Olivier Moreau, product manager at ARMOR USA. “By combining our range of thermal transfer ribbons with pressure-sensitive materials from manufacturers like Spinnaker Coating, we are able to bring better solutions to the printing industry. ARMOR ribbons are widely compatible with many label materials available on the market, and ARMOR partners can give solid application recommendations on facestocks that have proven to work well in combination with our ribbons. We are very happy with the relationship with Spinnaker Coating, who has developed a broad range of label materials covering most Thermal Transfer application needs. With all the new ribbons recently introduced by ARMOR on the market, the timing was perfect!”

Adds Ulrich, “This partnership provides our technical consulting representatives with the knowledge and expertise to speak with confidence when recommending a particular ribbon to our customers.”
