CFC, Graphic Packaging, Alcan, and InkSure Announce Q1 Results

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL—Worldwide holographic and specialty coated film manufacturer, CFC Intl., reported that net sales for the first quarter of 2006 decreased 2.5% to $22.4 million compared to $23 million in the first quarter of 2005. This decrease in sales is primarily due to lower volumes of printed products as a result of customers ordering higher volumes in the fourth quarter of 2005 to obtain products before the company's November 15, 2005, price increase.

MARIETTA, GA—Graphic Packaging Corp. reported a net loss for Q1 of $31.5 million compared to a net loss of $29.6 milllion in Q1 2005. The loss was impacted by higher costs for key production inputs and services, as well as manufacturing variances at the company's West Monroe, LA, paper mill. Net sales decreased 0.4% to $580.4 million, compared to net sales of $583 million in Q1 2005.

MONTREAL, CANADA—Alcan reported operating earnings from continuing operations of $1.26 per common share in Q1 2006 compared to $0.60 a year ago and $0.54 in the fourth quarter of 2005. Income from continuing operations was $1.21 per common share compared to $0.56 a year earlier and $0.91 in Q4. Cash from operating activities in continuing operations was $367 million compared to $62 million last year and $792 in Q4. Debt to invested capital was 38% at the end of Q1 compared to 40% at the end of Q4. Revenues were $5,550 million for the first quarter compared to $5,178 in Q4.

FT. LAUDERDALE, FL—InkSure Technologies, a provider of covert machine-readable security solutions for the prevention of counterfeiting, fraud and diversion, increased revenues to approximately $538,000 in the first quarter of 2006, compared with revenues of $494,000 in the first quarter of 2005. The Company's gross profits increased 78% and its gross profit margin expanded to 63.3% of revenues, compared with 38.8% in the first quarter of 2005. The company reported a net loss of $605,000, in the most recent quarter, versus a net loss of $454,000 in 2005.
