interpack a Success

DÜSSELDORF, GERMANY | The triennial interpack, held May 12-18, welcomed 2,700 exhibitors from 60 countries, and Messe Düsseldorf North America reports the event as one of the most successful in the show's 53-year history. All 19 halls of the Fairgrounds in Düsseldorf were fully booked.

The international trade fair saw an increase in the proportion of decision-makers, compared to interpack 2008, with almost 75% of visitors from the management level, according to a visitor survey.

Among the highlights:

  • The US Pavilion included 33 exhibitors

  • The SAVE FOOD campaign demonstrated how each stage in the value chain can help in the worldwide fight against food waste. Organized in cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Org. of the UN, it featured 300+ participants, ranging from producers and the packaging industry to retailers, politicians, and society and nongovernment organizations.

  • Five different shops — under the themes of Health, Meaning, Aesthetics, Simplicity, and Identity — brought together companies from across the value chain with the motto of “Quality of Life.” These stores presented best practices.

The next interpack is scheduled for 2014, with exact dates still to be announced. For more information visit www.mdna.com.
