Heidelberg and Landa Partner to Expand Digital

HEIDELBERG, GERMANY | Heidelberger Druckmaschinen and Landa Corp., Rehovot, Israel, report a global strategic partnership to collaborate on the development of Nanographic Printing Presses to expand digital offerings for mainstream printing, including short-to-medium runs, variable data, and quick-turnaround printing. Heidelberg intends to develop, manufacture, sell and service new generation of digital printing presses based upon Landa Nanographic Printing technology.

The Nanographic process is based on Landa's water-based NanoInk, nano-pigments said to be powerful absorbers of light that enable unprecedented image qualities. Ink ejectors create digital ink images that are applied to the printing stock in a process that can operate at extremely high speeds creating images with resistance to abrasions and scratches. Reportedly it can print on any off-the-shelf substrate without requiring any kind of pre-treatment or special coating, and no post-drying. Ink is said to produce low cost-per-page digital images with a water-based, energy-efficient, eco-friendly process.
