MACtac Secures UL Recognition for INX Inks

STOW, OH | MACtac Performance Adhesives Group has secured Underwriter Laboratories (UL) Recognition for INX Digital International NWUV UV Ink Jet Series Inks used with durable films including a UV polypropylene as well as white, bright silver and matte silver polyester label stocks.

When using UL-recognized MACtac products, converters now have pre-approved compliance that they can rely on to ensure fast market access because of reduced costs and time spent qualifying substrates. Pre-approval means no new testing is required, only a paper transfer that can be submitted through an Internet portal, via email, or phone.

"With the shift toward digital printing, UL Recognition for printing our durable films digitally is a major advantage to converters," says Kim Hensley, product manager, MACtac Performance Adhesives Group. "Being the first company to offer pre-approvals for INX ink allows converters to complete short- and medium-run label jobs, which not only reduces costs but also shortens the time needed to enter the durable goods labeling market."

The following four items include MACtac MP690 durable adhesive and are UL recognized for indoor and outdoor applications:

• BDE6914, 2.6-mil UV resistant white polypropylene

• FCD6914, 2-mil white polyester

• FED6914, 2-mil bright silver polyester

• FFD6914N, 2-mil matte silver polyester

MACtac MP690 adhesive is a high-performance, high-tack, durable, permanent acrylic emulsion said to have excellent ultimate adhesion and mandrel hold recognized for UL969 component labels. Company reports it is very resistant to chemicals and solvents and has good adhesion to various high- and low-energy substrates.
