FSEA and IADD Announce Programming and Plant Tours for Upcoming Joint Conference

The Foil & Specialty Effects Association (FSEA) and the International Association of Diecutting and Diemaking (IADD) have announced the programming lineup for their 2020 Joint Conference. New this year, the event will feature plant tours of local graphic finishing, binding and diecutting/diemaking facilities. The Joint Conference will take place April 27-29 at the Hyatt Regency Downtown Indianapolis in Indianapolis, IN.

The conference offers a supplier trade fair; educational programming specifically targeted to the print finishing, binding and diemaking/diecutting industries; and an awards reception where the recipients of the FSEA Gold Leaf Awards and FSEA Lifetime Achievement Award will be honored.

Educational Sessions and Workshops

Gary A. Jones, the director of environmental, health and safety (EHS) affairs at the Specialty Graphic and Imaging Association, will keynote a sustainability track on the first day of the conference. The pressure for companies to join the circular economy by providing less environmentally impactful material options, address end of life issues such as recyclability and illustrate sustainable production practices is increasing. Jones will help define what sustainability means to those in the print and converting industries, discuss consumer demands and define regulatory influences that are shaping the current landscape.

Additionally, educational sessions and workshops will provide targeted programming for the print decorating, binding, diecutting and diemaking industries. Workshop and panel sessions will include, among others:

  • Recruiting, Training and Retaining Your Employees;
  • The Cold Foil Embellishment Landscape;
  • Applications for Digital Decorating;
  • Why Sales Management Fails;
  • Challenges with Paper Stocks and Coatings;
  • Supply Chain Improvements; and
  • Promoting Your Finishing and Bindery Services.

Plant Tours

New this year, conference attendees will have the opportunity to attend plant tours of local graphic finishing, binding and diecutting/diemaking facilities on the final day of the conference. Attendees will travel by bus to local businesses to view daily operations during a tour led by the facility’s employees and leadership teams. Those interested in diemaking/diecutting will visit Midwest Steel Rule Cutting Die. Attendees interested in print finishing and binding will tour Baugh Graphic Finishing House and Eckhart & Co.
