PRESS RELEASE
WURZBURG, GERMANY - KBA won contracts worth €346.6 million in the first quarter of 2006, 10.9% below the record figure of €382.4 million for the corresponding period in 2005. New bookings for web and special presses increased 21.2% to €167.9 million. Shipping schedules resulted in group sales of €309.4 million, roughly on par with the previous year, but far off course for meeting the annual target. An order backlog of €1,072.1 million, however, an 11.2% increase from the previous year, will keep KBA's plants busy into the second half of the year. Lagging sales impacted earnings, leading to an operating loss of €6.5 million (down from€6.2 million) and a net loss of €5.3 million, down from €6.8 million the previous year.
