PRESS RELEASE
MORRIS TOWNSHIP, NJ—Honeywell has announced that its partner, Sigdopack, a subsidiary of Chilean holding group Sigdo Koppers, has opened a new production plant to produce Capran Medallion and OxyShield BOPA films for Central and South America. The facility represents an investment of $30 million and has a capacity of 5,000 tons per year. The plant is the first of its type in Latin America.
Honeywell and Sigdopack signed a strategic alliance agreement in April 2005 under which Sigdopack licensed Honeywell's Capran Medallion and OxyShield film technology and trademarks for Central and South America. Capran Medallion and OxyShield are oriented nylon six-based films. Capran Medallion is commonly known as biaxially oriented polyamide, or BOPA, and Oxyshield is an oriented oxygen barrier film.
