Pack Expo Presentation Highlights Improvements for Packaging Lamination

PRESS RELEASE

PHILADELPHIA, PA—Rohm & Haas senior scientist Dr. Mai Chen will examine the development of the company's newest water-based acrylic technology for medium performance packaging laminations and its implications for the converting marketing in a presentation during Pack Expo Intl. 2006. Dr. Chen will present data from performance tests comparing the acrylic adhesives with selected solvent-based urethane adhesives. Overall, tests comparing the two technologies reportedly demonstrated that the new water-based acrylic adhesives provided adhesion performances similar or better than solvent-based urethane adhesives. Specifically, water-based acrylic adhesives exhibited good performance in all areas tested, including shear resistance, adhesion to various films, heat seal strength, and heat and moisture resistance.

The presentation will take place at 9:25 a.m. on Tuesday, October 31, at Pack Expo Intl. 2006 in Chicago's McCormick Place. Those unable to attend can request transcripts after the exhibition. To learn more, visit the company's booth (E-8626) during the show or see rohmhaas.com.
