Newark Converted Products Re-Opens Plant

CRANFORD, NJ | Newark Converted Products (NCP) reports the grand re-opening of its manufacturing facility in Franklin, OH, at a ribbon-cutting event with City Manager Sonny Lewis, senior representatives from Newark, and several members of the city of Franklin’s Chamber of Commerce and community leaders in attendance.

NCP is a division of Newark Recycled Paperboard Solutions, a supplier of tubes and cores, roll finishing materials, laminated products, cover board, and industrial packaging.

At the re-opening event, Frank Papa, president and CEO of Newark Recycled Paperboard Solutions (Newark), said, “Franklin is a prime example of how we continue to live up to our promise of remaining sustainable for our trusted business partners without compromising the quality of our products. At Franklin we have created a more vibrant facility and are excited to expand our sustainable manufacturing presence in the US.”

As a direct result of the Franklin operations, the company has added eight new hourly positions and will be adding one salaried position with a second shift in the future. NCP has projected growth of 50% over the next five years.

Jim Carbine, senior VP of NCP, added, “Our team has put in endless hours of hard work to help restructure the Franklin facility that Newark has been running since 1993, and we’re extremely grateful for their dedication.”

The facility is the first-dual converting facility in Newark’s history to produce both tubes and cores, as well as laminated products. The Franklin facility has expanded its initial capabilities from the production of binders, books, and packaging to now include processes such as converting, slitting, tube and core winding, and precision re-cutting of cores. New manufacturing equipment at this site includes four winders, four re-cutters, three slitters, and two auxiliary machines, as well as a new glue system and dryer capacity.

Company adds that in its continuing company-wide commitment to safety, it evaluated existing safety measures and implemented additional precautions across all facilities in July.
