AIMCAL Joins with Fraunhofer to Organize Conference

FORT MILL, SC | The Assn. of International Metallizers, Coaters and Laminators (AIMCAL) will partner with two institutes of Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, Munich, Germany, a European applied research organization, to present the 2016 AIMCAL Europe Web Coating & Handling Conference, May 30–June 2, 2016, at the Westin Bellevue in Dresden, Germany.

AIMCAL is partnering with the Fraunhofer Institute for Process Engineering and Packaging IVV (Fraunhofer IVV), Freising, Germany, and the Fraunhofer Institute for Organic Electronics, Electron Beam and Plasma Technology FEP (Fraunhofer FEP), Dresden, Germany, to present the event.

Under a Memorandum of Agreement with AIMCAL, Fraunhofer FEP’s pro flex conference will be merged into the 2016 event, and it will oversee the Vacuum Web Coating track. Fraunhofer FEP also will host an optional tour and reception at its facility on Wednesday, June 1. “This is a wonderful opportunity for pro flex attendees to participate in an expanded conference program,” says Dr. Nicolas Schiller, deputy director of Fraunhofer FEP and division director: Flexible Products.

Fraunhofer IVV will lead the organizing effort for the Web Coating track. “We have worked with AIMCAL several times in recent years and are excited to assume a major role in organizing and presenting this conference,” says Professor Dr. Horst-Christian Langowski, director of Fraunhofer IVV.

Responsibilities for soliciting and reviewing papers will be shared by AIMCAL and the Fraunhofer groups. In addition, each organization will market the conference to its stakeholders. AIMCAL will provide all meeting planning and logistical support before, during, and after the event.
