JB Machinery: 2021 Innovator of the Year

JB Machinery captured first and third place in the 2021 AICC/ Board Converting News/ Corrugated Today Innovator of the Year Award when it earned the majority of votes of AICC/ TAPPI 2021 SuperCorrExpo attendees in Orlando, FL.

This year’s competition was open to associate members and focused on innovations of equipment, products, and services that are directly related to the mechanical converting process.

JB Machinery won for its AutoWash™ automatic plate washing system and DigiFlex™ high-speed variable imager.

“It means so much to us to be selected for this award by our peers on both the converting and machinery manufacturer sides,” said John Bird, CEO, JB Machinery. “We thank everyone who voted for our products and stopped by to visit with us at SuperCorrExpo.”

AutoWash eliminates manual washing by automating the plate washing process and allowing converters to simultaneously clean all plates, regardless of the number of print stations, in less than four minutes.

DigiFlex, is a high-speed, inline, variable data printing system that brings value-added printing capabilities to virtually any flexo folder-gluer, rotary or platen diecutter, specialty folder-gluer, or anywhere space will allow the top printing device to be installed. For extra versatility, the portable print engine design allows the system to be transferred between machine lines that meet the operating requirements.

“JB Machinery is elated to have our AutoWash selected as the Innovator of the Year at SuperCorrExpo 2021, and to also have our DigiFlex selected as third place,” said Dave Burgess, sales director, JB Machinery. “To be recognized by our industry peers for our ongoing investment in technology and innovations is certainly an honor shared by the entire JB Machinery team.”

Second place was awarded to HP for its HP PageWide C500 Top Feeder submission.

Finalists included Alliance Machine Systems with its entry Raptor — RDC Automatic Loadformer and C&M Conveyor with its entry Tetris — Automated Dunnage Placement.

The next Innovator of the Year competition will feature innovations from AICC General Members (boxmakers) in the Boxmaker category. Submission information on the 2022 Innovator of the Year Competition will be available in mid-2022.
