Amcor Wins WorldStar Award

ZURICH, SWITZERLAND | Amcor Flexibles reports its StayClean packaging has won a WorldStar award at the World Packaging Org. (WPO) 2015 competition.

“We are honored to receive this award as it recognizes Amcor’s continuing efforts to provide innovative packaging solutions,” said Tom Cochran, VP and general manager-Americas & Medical Europe, Amcor Flexibles Europe & Americas. “We are committed to investing in the products, processes, and services that meet our customers’ unique needs and we are proud to be distinguished by winning a WorldStar award. This follows StayClean’s Flexible Packaging Assn. 2014 Silver Award in Technical Innovation. ”

Amcor’s StayClean flexible overwrap contains no components that might transfer to the product. This is especially important in pharmaceutical and medical products for individuals susceptible to contaminants. An example is patients suffering from asthma and other respiratory diseases. The packaging is also able to seal at rapid speeds.

Amcor’s StayClean packaging is suitable for a range of applications where both elimination of product-packaging interaction and efficient manufacturing is desirable.

Representatives from 17 packaging associations, members of WPO (World Packaging Org.), judged 264 packaging projects, from 37 countries, that applied for WorldStar Awards 2015. The judging session took place on Nov. 19, 2014, in Colombo (Sri Lanka) and results were officially announced on Dec. 2, 2014.

To be eligible to enter WorldStar Awards the packaging must be a winner in a national or multinational competition that is recognized by WPO. WPO is a non-profit, non-governmental, international federation of packaging institutes, associations, federations and other interested parties including corporations and trade associations.
