Monadnock Offers Guide to Environmental Options

BENNINGTON, NH | Monadnock Paper Mills (MPM), manufacturer of specialty papers for the technical, packaging, and printing markets, announces The Santulan Portfolio, a lookbook/brand standards guide with renewable fiber-based options made for retail and hospitality brands.

This tool shows marketers how to source print and packaging materials within the context of their or their clients’ corporate sustainability objectives. The benefits in sourcing these products reportedly are quantifiable: increased use of renewable electricity; CO2 equivalent emission reductions; replacing plastics with renewable, recycled and/or recyclable materials in the supply chain.

Company says it is possible to create uncompromisingly beautiful, functional, and sustainable print and packaging that align with corporate environmental impact reduction objectives.

Santulan features examples of gift card, beverage label, hang tag and price ticket, folding box, environmental graphics, signage, and collateral produced on the company’s papers. All of these PVC-free products are Forest Stewardship Council certified (FSC #C018866) and manufactured under a third-party-certified ISO 14001 Environmental Management System. They are manufactured carbon neutral (VERs) with 100% Green-e certified renewable wind powered electricity (RECs).

“In addition to shelf appeal, brands are challenged to meet the demand of retailers for enhanced package strength, security, and utility with an optimal environmental profile,” says Lisa Berghaus, director of marketing communications for Monadnock. “Santulan is Sanskrit for balance…this portfolio shows brands they don’t have to compromise performance, esthetics, economics, or the environment.”

According to the company, Santulan offers a range of print techniques and special treatments including foil and textured varnishes,—from the soft velvety touch of the turned-edge cover, to sandy and smooth textures on a sunscreen box, to a luxuriously silky brochure.
