Pouch Demand To Climb
- Published: November 01, 2008
Cleveland, OH | Demand for pouches in the US is forecast to climb 6.1%/yr to $7.9 billion in 2012, stimulated by robust growth for stand-up pouches and healthy gains for flat pouches in a number of markets. This is the conclusion of Pouches, a new study from The Freedonia Group.
The study says unit demand should increase 4.6% yearly to 89 billion. Stand-up pouch demand is expected to increase almost 10%/yr through 2012, with demand benefiting from convenience features and the emergence of new applications and product types, such as flat-bottomed, side-gusseted pouches.
The report says growth also will be fueled by advantages that make stand-up pouches an economical and environmentally friendly packaging alternative, such as lower production costs and reduced shipping costs. For more information, visit www.freedoniagroup.com.
