Investing in Digital To Meet Customer Demands
MONTREAL, QC, CANADA
Phase 2 Labels, an integrated company of Pazazz Printing, has taken possession of an Omega Digicon HS converting line for digitally printed webs. The line, supplied by AB Graphic Intl., joins the company's new HP Indigo 4500 digital print engine as part of a joint $1 million investment program.
Among the options offered by the Digicon HS line are die-cutting, laminating, hot foil stamping, and sheeting. Reportedly, it minimizes waste and set-up times and is capable of running a wide range of materials.
Warren Werbitt, president and CEO of Pazazz, says, “Our clients were increasingly requesting the option for short-run, flexible, color printing — often with variable data or personalization. Not only did we answer their call, but we also tracked down the finest equipment the industry has to offer.”

Labels Are Environmentally Sound
DALLAS, TX
Dolphin Blue, a supplier of environmentally responsible office supplies, has entered into an agreement with Pinnacle Label, Buffalo, NY, to market and sell what is said to be the industry's first 100% recyclable printing label.
Pinnacle's Recyclabels line of cut sheet printer labels is manufactured with 100% post-consumer recycled and certified processed chlorine-free facestock, recyclable backing material, and recyclable permanent adhesive.
Pinnacle's proprietary manufacturing process, called Clean Edge Technology, eliminates the adhesive from the outer 1/16 in. of the label sheet. Heat and pressure from printers can force adhesives out of the sides of many label sheets, the company notes, adding that this process also eliminates seepage. Benefits to end-users are said to include fewer paper jams and lower maintenance costs.
New Tapes Are Strong
RIVERHEAD, NY
Two double-coated tapes from Adchem Corp. provide foam tearing bonds to 90% of tested urethanes, neoprene, and PE foams, as well as excellent bond strength to most corks and rubber materials, company says.
Designated 3175M aggressive rubber polyester film tape system and 5944M double-coated rubber and acrylic tape system, tapes are available in several widths and liner options.
Variable-Data Unit Added
GARDEN GROVE, CA
All Barcode Systems reports a high-speed, variable-data unit has been added to the company's existing Mark Andy 2200-XL label/tag press.
The unit can print barcodes and numbers sequentially or print variable data, including address labels. It can print in black, red, green, yellow, or blue, and it will print using a UV ink (visible only with UV light sources) for an added security feature or unique feature for any label or tag.
