• NEPA Carton & Carrier, Moosic, PA, upgrades two six-color KBA Planeta presses with the Adelphi AutoSet Presetting System from EPG (Essex Products Group), Centerbrook, CT. NEPA reports achieving accurate color more quickly after startup, using less board, and reducing makeready time.

• TimBar Packaging & Display, Hanover, PA, installs a customized energy-saving system at its Miami, FL, corrugated facility. Implemented by WPS Global, Milwaukee, WI, the supply-side electricity reduction solution is expected to reduce energy consumption by at least 10%.

• American Forest & Paper Assn., Washington, DC, reports October US containerboard production increased 94,800 tons or 3.4% compared to October 2009. Year-to-date production increased 8.5% over 2009. October Kraft paper shipments were 124,500 tons, an increase of 0.7% compared to October 2009. Total year-to-date shipments rose 12.1% over 2009. Total boxboard production in October decreased by 1.6% compared to October 2009. Year-to-date production was up 3.9% over 2009.

• Smurfit-Stone Recycling, Atlanta, GA, joins the Paperboard Packaging Council, Springfield, MA, as an associate member.
