Show Preview - Forecast for Orlando: ICE

The launch of ICE USA 2011 April 6-8 will bring more than 200 industry suppliers to the Orange County Convention Center, located in the heart of the tourist district in Orlando, FL. In addition to a temperate climate, attendees can expect to find innovative machinery and services from all the key areas of flexible material converting, says show organizer Mack Brooks Exhibitions, Burlington MA.

You can register online to order a three-day show pass for $20, which will cost $40 at the door. There also will be a host of conferences and events taking place alongside the exhibition.

Learning Opportunities Abound

A three-track conference program - Web Coating/Laminating, Web Handling/Winding, and Package Printing and Converting - is being organized by AIMCAL, the Assn. of Intl. Metallizers, Coaters and Laminators. Beginning with a keynote presentation each day, more than 30 papers will be presented between 10 a.m. and noon, allowing attendees plenty of time to visit the show floor afterward.

Take the opportunity to hear PFFC's “Web Lines” and “Static Beat” columnists while you're at the show. Tim Walker will present “A Video Guide to Web Wrinkling and Spreading,” and Kelly Robinson will cover “Web Handling Machine Design for Static Control.”

Conference passes are $79 for one day; $149 for three days. All conference passes include a three-day pass to the ICE USA exhibit show floor. Lunch is included with the conference registration fee and will be available immediately following the conference program each day at noon in the Food Court at the back of the show floor.

For more specifics on the ICE USA conference program, see p41.

Ask the Experts & Allied Events

Show attendees can schedule a ten-minute meeting with independent experts from various sectors of the industry. Participating consultants are Vince DiTrolio (flexographic printing), Ed Cohen (coating/laminating), David Roisum (web handling), and Dave Rumson (slitting/rewinding). Ask the Experts meetings will take place on the show floor at Booth 1235 April 6-8 and can be prescheduled online.

But that's not all. On April 5, prior to the opening of the show, CEMA, the Converting Equipment Mfrs. Assn., is running educational programs on slitting/rewinding and coating/laminating. The cost is $295/each and includes a three-day show pass.

In addition, TAPPI is offering a full-day flexible packaging symposium on April 5. Cost to participate is $450 for TAPPI members; $675 for non-members, which includes a three-day show pass.

“With the addition of TAPPI PLACE and CEMA, ICE USA will now offer the most comprehensive educational programming to converting professionals in North America,” says Michael Boyle, ICE USA show director.

Network In Advance

Prior to the show, you can participate in the 2011 ICE USA Golf Open on Tuesday, April 5. The event will be held at the Shingle Creek Golf Club from 12:30-5:30 p.m. A welcome reception open to all will take place from 5:00-7:00 p.m. that evening.
