Sonoco Announces Price Increase

HARTSVILLE, SC | Sonoco raised the price for all grades of uncoated recycled paperboard (URB) products by $45/ton, effective with shipments in the US and Canada beginning August 31, 2015.
“The price increase is driven by recent increases in costs for recovered paper, chemicals and other operating costs,” says Palace Stepps, director of sales and marketing for Sonoco’s North America paper business.
Company reports it is one of the largest producers of uncoated recycled paperboard in the US and Canada, producing more than 1 million tons annually from 11 mills. Founded in 1899, it is a global provider of a variety of consumer packaging, industrial products, protective packaging, and packaging supply chain services. With annualized net sales of approximately $5.0 billion, the Company has 21,000 employees working in more than 300 facilities in 34 countries, serving many of the world’s best known brands in some 85 nations.
