One Smart Press

The UV flexo Intelligent press, which is part of company's Combat line, is said to offer the label industry manual adjustments, repeatable print quality, and savings in time and waste. Press is controlled by seven servo motors for remote control of all print functions; every press variable is under control and independent from the operator. System is based on self-learning software technologies that identify splices, press stops, emergency stops, and changes in press speed, printed substrates, and tension, without affecting the press's overall performance.

Fine Printing with Flexo Presses

WINONA, MN

Boelter Industries, a producer of folding cartons and specialty paper products, likes to control every aspect of the manufacturing process, from design to finished product. Helping the converter meet this goal is a recently installed BHS Flexline Compact AFC 1006 flexo press, Boelter's second Flexline Compact. The new press features automatic unwind and in-line flat-bed die-cutter. Company president Les Boelter says the presses provide “excellent trapping properties, even when printing heavy solids in subsequent stations,” referring to the high-performance dryers after each station. “This enables them to print high-volume ink laydowns as well as fine process line screens. …The servo-driven [presses] run very quiet and vibration-free, resulting in uniform vignettes with no slur or gear marks.” Boelter adds, “So far, BHS has met or exceeded all our expectations.”
