FFEI Digital UV Press to Debut at PRINT 13

HEMEL HEMPSTEAD, UK | FFEI, will launch the Graphium modular digital UV inkjet press at the co-located PRINT 13 and CPP EXPO shows, September 8–12, at Chicago’s McCormick Place.
The press features high opacity digital white for the production of labels, packaging, and specialty print and reportedly enables a greater number of jobs to be converted digitally. It is said to offer innovative workflow, prepress, color management software, and cutting-edge head calibration technology, ensuring consistent quality through repeatable production.
FFEI managing director Andy Cook says, “When developing this press, we wanted to bring our many years of software and inkjet expertise together to create a complete solution that transforms the print process. With Graphium, converters can now achieve greater efficiency from prepress to production and benefit from reduced start-up costs, minimal waste, and increased productivity.” Cook says the ROI compared to conventional printing is huge, not only for short-runs, but longer ones as well.”
Supporting up to six digital modules and six flexo stations, press is able to integrate optional flexo and finishing stations inline for conversion in a single pass, reportedly reducing production time and cost in comparison to traditional offline finishing.
Features Xaar 1001 printhead, corona pre-treatment, web cleaning, intercolor pinning, and Adaptive Screening Technology, all standard. It uses specialist Uvijet Graphium UV curing inks developed by Fujifilm Speciality Ink Systems, which reportedly combine the functional performance, color gamut, and adhesion needed for label printing with reliable jetting performance required for consistent printing.
