WILMINGTON, DE | DuPont Packaging Graphics welcomes Para Print Inc., a provider of flexographic printing plates and prepress services, as a participant in a key program to recover, reuse, and recycle DuPont Cyrel flexographic printing plates and related materials. The program, known as TR3, is consistent with the goal of both companies to operate in an environmentally responsible manner, enhancing sustainability in their operations and helping their downstream customers meet their environmental goals.
“Para Print has a long-standing commitment to environmentally responsible operations, and we are pleased to be a part of the DuPont TR3 program,” said Ralph Zuccarini, president, Para Print. “DuPont Cyrel flexographic printing plates provide the quality and productivity we need, and participating in the TR3 program helps further differentiate us in terms of sustainability. It’s our aim to meet, and even exceed, the environmental requirements of our valued customers, and we offer this service at no additional charge to help them realize their goals.”
DuPont facilitates the collection of DuPont Cyrel boxes, polystyrene in the boxes, developer rolls, polyethylene terephthalate (PET) cover sheets, Cyrel plates, and trim waste for its TR3 program participants at a modest fee. DuPont recovers, reuses, and recycles the returned materials either in secondary commercial applications or as an alternative to fossil fuels to create energy.
“This turnkey program is the first of its kind in the industry, as DuPont continues to develop ‘greener’ more sustainable supply chains and ultimately move toward zero waste,” said Ray Bodwell, North American marketing manager, DuPont Packaging Graphics. “Para Print is a clear leader in this area as well, and we are honored to work with them to advance our shared commitment to environmental sustainability through the TR3 program.”
Total recovery, reuse, and recycling are the aim of the DuPont TR3 program. While industry estimates indicate that the overwhelming majority of overall plate waste is currently landfilled, DuPont has recovered more than 1 million pounds of materials within the past three years as part of its TR3 initiative. By responsibly collecting and reusing plate waste either in secondary commercial applications or as an alternative to fossil fuels to create energy, and by creating economies of scale, DuPont offers TR3 as a complete end-to-end program to help customers meet sustainability goals by improving their waste management effectiveness. The program is currently available to customers in the Eastern US who utilize at least 70% DuPont Cyrel flexographic printing plates.
