Peregrine Machine Launches Next-Generation Modular Hybrid CI Stack Press

Peregrine Machine, a Virginia based flexographic printing and converting equipment manufacturer, recently launched the HyFlex Hybrid CI Stack Press, a new modular hybrid flexo printing and coating press combining the web material stability of CI drum stations with the versatility of stack press stations.

“We saw a need to combine the precision and fast changeovers of a cantilevered CI press with the multi-web path and flexibility of a geared stack press,” said David Ellingsworth, president of Peregrine Machine. “Customers can mix and match our modular geared and cantilevered print stations within a universal frame.”

Peregrine Machine designed the HyFlex press for narrow, mid, and wide web process printing on paper, foil, film, and board substrates with the option to add more stations to the press.  “As customer needs evolve, this modular press can grow with them,” said Ellingsworth. “By adding additional stations and frame sets, a customer can start with a 1-color press and expand to 10 colors making this press a more scalable and cost-effective solution for high precision printing.”

Additional features include quick-change cantilever plate and anilox sleeves, single-handle toolless cantilever bearing support, face-to-back printing with no turn bars required, an automatic ink pumping and cleaning system, and Servo drive automation technology for touch screen setup that stores and resets in perfect register and enables hands-free automatic adjustments of print stations.

The gearless cantilevered CM-series print station is available in web widths from 10”-64” (250-1625 mm), a repeat range of 16”-36” (410-915 mm), maximum speed of 2000 fmp (600 m/m), and color to color registration of +/- 0.004”. The geared GM-series print station comes in web widths of 4”-84” (100-2135 mm), a repeat range of 10”-72” (250-1830 mm), maximum speed of 1650 fmp (500mm), and gear pitch of DP/CP/mm.

The HyFlex hybrid CI stack press integrates a CI drum and independent flexographic print stations within a 4-color stack design combining modern technology and flexibility for maximum cost-efficiency over the lifetime of the press.
